Perfect preparation race under laboratory conditions at the Austria Triathlon

Two weeks before the showdown over the long distance in Carinthia Michi could take a sovereign victory at the Austria Triathlon in Podersdorf.

Under almost laboratory conditions, he crossed the finish line first after 3:41h ahead of German youngster Stefan Betz and Hungarian 2019 winner David Hanko.

During the swim in the slippery Lake Neusiedl, Michi was able to keep the gap well below 3 minutes, which gave him an optimal starting position for his parade discipline in the first chasing group.

After two of three bike laps without wind he could take the lead and didn't give it away anymore. With a bike split of 1:56h he achieved a new split record, which means that the long units in the saddle during the last weeks paid off.

On the run course the high September temperatures became noticeable, but they could not stop Michi. After the first 11 kilometers the lead had grown to six minutes. The 5km splits were very constant and it literally went according to plan.

After 12 kilometers he reduced the pace in view of the IRONMAN Austria on September 19 and took the last length into the "hell" of Podersdorf in a controlled way. There were goose bumps for Michi at the finish line, where his team and his family welcomed him joyfully after the new course record over the half distance.

Many thanks to Daniel Döller and the whole organization team of the Austria Triathlon for the perfect realization and the brilliant race!

Next week Michi will compete in a sprint distance at the Fittest City Sprint Triathlon in St. Pölten before the journey to the Wörthersee starts. Stay tuned! #roadtoklafu
